First up we have chinese slimming pills which is the OTC or over the counter version of Orlistat, better known as Xenical. This product is claimed to reduce the absorption of dietary fat by your body. It is effective at doing what is says though the OTC version produces significantly less weight loss compared to the prescription version. However, the FDA released an advisory, in the first quarter of 2010, advising doctors to prescribe this with caution due to several reports of liver injury which the agency is currently investigating. Then there is Ephedra which is an appetite suppressant. It is possibly effective at doing what it says it will do but this product has been found to be quite unsafe and is in fact banned by the FDA. The third one is Guar Gum which is supposed to block the absorption of dietary fat and heighten ones feeling of fullness. Studies so far have shown that it is likely ineffective at doing this. On the other hand, it is considered safe.

There are many more but these three represent what is in herbal slimming capsule diet pills and illustrate basically the full range of effects and effectiveness of all the diet pills and products currently available. What is immediately apparent that the effective products are either completely unsafe or have serious side effects. The products that are safe are unfortunately not effective. But that's not all there is to these findings. You will notice also that the effective products either block the absorption of dietary fat or decrease appetite. While they are considered efficient at performing these functions, looking deeper into this, you can see that these two things can actually be done by the dieters by simply putting their minds to it.
